The 2019 Altima is the sixth-generation of Nissan’s favorite sedan. Resting at about 2.8 centimetres lower, two centimeters wider and 4.8-centimetre-longer, the Altima now has more head, leg, and shoulder room for front passengers and more leg and shoulder room for those sitting in the back.

Other changes include a more rigid chassis and a completely redesigned front grille that extends beyond the bottom of the fascia, eliminating the bumper cover altogether. But surprisingly enough, these aren’t even close to the biggest or most exciting changes in the all-new Altima.

The Biggest Update to the 2019 Nissan Altima is AWD

This is the first Nissan sedan in North America to offer the technology as standard across all trim levels. The Nissan AWD system employs on-demand torque distribution, which can shift full torque to the front wheels when necessary to a 50/50 front/rear bias when better handling is needed.

This is a great news for Canadians looking for a fully loaded and luxurious sedan that can also tackle the cold and icy winter climate.

Trims and Features

The 2019 Nissan Altima will come in three trims — S, SV, and Premium. The list of standard equipment on the S model is long, including things like 16-inch wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, power locks and windows and a backup camera. The base model Altima also offers two USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth compatibility. Even luxurious amenities like a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and remote starting come with.

When you move up to the SV trim, features like dual-zone climate control, LED headlights and fog lamps, and 17-inch aluminum wheels are added. A heated steering wheel and moonroof also come with the middle model. If you choose Premium, enjoy leather seats, interior accent lighting, rear moving object detection, NissanConnect, 19-inch wheels, and a top-of-the-line Bose sound system.

Interior Design

Inside the new Nissan, you’ll come to find the same roomy and comfortable interior as in previous generations. With the increased length and width, there is far more legroom in the rear for full-sized adults, even with the front seats adjusted for a six-foot-tall driver. There are also two USB charging ports for passengers sitting in the back. There’s also a new intuitive eight-inch touchscreen, which is standard across all trims.
