Nissan Qashqai vs. Honda HR-V vs. Toyota C-HRDec 31th, 2018
SUVs continue to grow in popularity and are now purchased by Canadian consumers more than cars. An even smaller subset of this popular vehicle group is crossovers. These vehicles offer buyers a compact-size, affordable price-point, and good fuel economy. The Nissan Qashqai, Honda H-RV and Toyota CH-R are three of the most popular choices in the small crossover segment. Which one is best for your needs?
Determining what your priorities are will help you choose the right vehicle. If price, interior space and cargo capacity are important to you, the Nissan Qashqai just makes sense. While all three of these vehicles brings something different to the table, the Qashqai offers more in terms of value and versatility.
The 2019 Qashqai starts at $19,998, the Honda HR-V has an MSRP of $23,100 and the Toyota C-HR starts at $23,675. Just at face value, the Qashqai is over $3,000 less than its two competitors. It’s not just at the lowest level trim that Nissan offers more value, either. If you choose the top-of-the-line SL at $31,198, you have every technology you need at your fingertips, including ProPILOT Assist, Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection plus luxuries like leather-appointed seats.
Another thing to consider when talking value is the amount of money you’re spending (or not spending) at the pumps. The Nissan Qashqai has an average fuel consumption rating of 10.1 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 8.1 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway which gives it a slight edge over its competitors.
Space and Cargo Capacity
Not only is the Qashqai more affordable it offers more space and cargo capacity, too. The interior is similar to the Nissan Rogue with high-end materials and an open layout. The trunk gives owners around 623 liters of cargo space with all seats in place, and 1,730 liters with the rear seat lowered. Meanwhile, the Toyota C-HR and the Honda HR-V offer 1,031 liters and 1,583 liters respectively when the rear seats are folded down.
Why Buy The Nissan Qashqai?
The Nissan Qashqai is up against some stiff competition, as both the Toyota CH-R and Honda CR-V offer buyers a compact ride and agile drive. However, if your top two priorities are value and space, the Qashqai is the clear frontrunner of the three.
